I.T.S. performs standard ASTM E-139 Creep Rupture and Stress Rupture testing on a variety of specimen sizes (from .5 inch to 8 inch gauge lengths) and specimen geometries (cylindrical and flat).
What is Creep?
Materials are often placed into service at elevated temperatures and are exposed to static mechanical stresses. Deformation under these conditions is called creep. Creep can be defined as the time-dependent and permanent deformation of materials when subjected to a constant load.
Typical testing consists of subjecting a specimen to a constant load or stress while maintaining the temperature. I.T.S has several fully digital Creep-Rupture Machines. All test frames are capable of achieving temperatures ranging form ambient to1900° F.
